fixes for usage on 12.04 (older ipconfig)
the ipconfig in 12.04:
a.) writes files to /tmp/net-*.conf
b.) does not include 'PROTO' in its output
There is also a fix here for static network configuration.
previously 'gateway' was being written as a second 'netmask'.
