The Amazing Appearing Tower
Gariar and Nahala introduce themselves, clumsily, to Mito and mention the day before they’d been in search of a wizard tower that Tobias Moss had asked them to look for and bring back any books or scrolls from. She agrees to join them because she has a package for The Wizard Tower. Apparently she’s just returned to town to deliver a package to the Mayor in some kind of weird Transporter kind of gig, which is weird because Westwatch doesn’t have a Mayor. She negotiates with Nahala to call him Nancy if she tells him what the package was, which she does, very vaguely.
They set out to go to the wizard tower and avoid an ettercap in a copse of trees, pass the stone circle where they fought the rock golem previously, encounter and murder a giant goat which Gariar butchers and turns into blowgun needles for Mito. Mito also takes a giant goat femur to use as a club.
They find the wizard tower, noticing the scenery growing noticeably more vibrant as they get closer to it. About a hundred feet from the tower in a perfect circle is a ring of scorched grass, inside the ring it feels…nicer. As if the grass inside is different from the outside. Gariar investigates and can’t find a door so he tries to intimidate the tower. Once he’s done shouting “GIVE ME YOUR MEAT” at it, a guardian portrait of Madro Fancy Whiskers appears and they proceed to interrogate it, badly, and Mito tries to convince it that they’re here to make a delivery. Eventually they do enough convincing and they’re teleported inside where they meet the Unseen Servant, Avenc, the Major Domo. They continue trying to convince him that Mito has a package to deliver, despite the package not having any kind of name or address other than The Tower. He offers to allow them to leave it there, but refuses to pay them cash on delivery. They insist that it needs to be delivered to a specific person, but since they can’t say who, then it’s less convincing. He shows them the wizards laboratory and study, in which they find a few books and realize that they can ask him for things. Gariar, naturally, wants meat. Mito wants two sexy elf dudes to feed her grapes.
Eventually the convince Avenc that they should leave the package there, in return he gives them 100G, a book they can’t read and a seventeen volume autobiography of the wizard who built the tower, titled The Life and Times of Antugon the Arch-Wizard, Bane of Men, Desire of Women.
They take this back to Tobias who is a little disappointed they’ve brought him a massive biography (soaked in goat blood) when they had access to AN ENTIRE WIZARD LIBRARY IF THEY’D ASKED PROPERLY. But who still gives them several hundred gold he’s scraped up from somewhere, 300G total or 100G per player.
The next morning Mito wakes up with her “package” by her bed with a note saying “We both know this wasn’t for us but we get so bored cooped up in the tower and you seemed like such INTERESTING people. Let us know how the autobiography is! The Master loves constructive feedback!”
