Remove trailing slashes from the vardir, they cause wrong directory names
when failures are stored.

Add a command-line option to define a list of desired status codes, e.g.
STATUS_DATABASE_CORRUPTION,STATUS_SERVER_CRASHED. 
The rest will be ignored.
