Remote test-cases:
        - Centralize mainloop creation in testutils.py instead of some tests using a shared
          method (with time-out checking) and some doing their own thing.
        - Fix timeout-out checking in mainloop so the exception gets through and marked as
          a failure (LP: #740911).
