This test will check that pavucontrol opens and closes without error
- Open pavucontrol with your FAMILY option
- pavucontrol opens to Playback tab
- Press X in top corner
- pavucontrol closes
Audio playback is a prerequisite of the following 3 tests
This test will check that Playback options work correctly
- Open pavucontrol, hover mouse over playback stream volume levels, using mouse wheel change volume
- Volume of audio decreases and increases in response to volume change
- Select the padlock icon next to sound output and press
- Padlock raises
- Select one audio channel and using mouse wheel change volume
- Volume changes in one channel only
- Reset both volume channels to default and press the padlock icon
- Sound returns to being the same in both channels, padlock shows as depressed
- If more than one sound output is available, press on sound output and change
- Name changes to match new sound output option
- Audio is heard through new output
- Reset sound output to default
- Name changes to match default sound output option
- Audio is heard through new output
This test will check that pavucontrol applies Output Devices options correctly
- Open pavucontrol and select Output Devices tab
- Dialogue changes to show available hardware
- Select stream and change output level with mouse
- Audio volume changes in response
- If more than one hardware device is available, set output in Playback tab
- Select stream and change output level for new hardware device with mouse
- Audio volume changes in response
This test will check that Configuration options work correctly
- Open pavucontrol and select Configuration tab
- Dialogue changes to show available hardware
- If more than one hardware device is available, select default device Profile
- Drop down menu appears
- Select Off
- Audio playback stops
- Set playback through other hardware device
- Audio playback resumes
- Reset devices to default
- Audio playback resumes through default hardware device
