Test-case name:XFCE4 Mixer
This test will check that xfce4-mixer can be opened either from a terminal window or from the applications menu, and shutdown
- Open a terminal window, type
xfce4-mixer
at the prompt and hit the "Enter" key
- Audio mixer opens
- Click the top right "X" of the window's title bar to close the application
- Audio mixer closes
- Point your mouse pointer to the Applications Menu icon and click it
- A menu drops down
- Navigate to Multimedia -> Audio Mixer
- Audio mixer opens
- Click the "Quit" button
- Audio mixer closes
This test will check that xfce4-mixer allows you to select which controls are visible in its GUI
- Open Audio mixer either from a terminal window or from the applications menu
- Audio mixer opens
- Click the "Select Controls..." button
- Select Controls dialogue window opens
- Tick/Untick the options given and click the "Close"
- The visibility of the controls in Audio Mixer's Playback tab change accordingly to the preferences set
This test will check that xfce4-mixer allows you to control the volume, mute/unmute and lock the channels of soundcards
- Open Audio mixer either from a terminal window or from the applications menu
- Audio mixer opens
- Point your mouse cursor to the "Playback" tab and click it
- Playback tab is the active tab
- Hover mouse over both channels volume levels on 'Master', using your mouse wheel
- Volume of audio decreases and increases in response to volume change
- Click the 'Lock channels' icon under the channels
- Lock channels icon raises
- Select one audio channel and using your mouse wheel change the volume level
- Volume changes in one channel only
- Reset both volume channels to default and press the 'Lock channels' icon
- Sound returns to being the same in both channels, 'Lock channels' icon shows as depressed
- Click the 'Speakers' icon
- The icon shows as depressed and the sound is muted
- Click again the 'Speakers' icon
- The icon raises and the sound is unmuted
This test will check that xfce4-mixer allows you to switch between multiple soundcards and configure them accordingly
- Open Audio mixer either from a terminal window or from the applications menu
- Audio mixer opens
- Click on the 'Sound card' drop-list and choose a sound device from the list
- Audio Mixer GUI change available configuration tabs accordingly to the selection made
- Audio is heard through new output
