use the first ipv4 or ipv6 gateway on the 'primary' nic default gateway

documentation is not terribly clear, but what we have right now
is to ignore gateways on any device not marked 'primary'.

Since there is no real 'destintation' (a cidr) for the 'gateway',
we have to interpret 'gateway' as 'default gateway'.
