##
## Install
## *******
##
## Meld can be installed in two ways:
##
## Run directly from untar directory:
##   "make" to create translations
##   Now run "./meld"
## You can create a symlink to the executable
##   i.e. /usr/local/bin/meld -> <melddir>/meld
##
##   OR
##
## Install into (for instance) /usr/local
##   "make prefix=/usr/local install"
##   Now run "/usr/local/bin/meld"
##
## You can customise the install paths used here:
PYTHON ?= python
prefix := /usr/local
bindir := $(prefix)/bin
libdir := $(prefix)/lib
docdir := $(prefix)/share/doc
sharedir := $(prefix)/share
helpdir := $(sharedir)/gnome/help
localedir := $(prefix)/share/locale
localstatedir := $(prefix)/var
libdir_ := $(libdir)/meld
docdir_ := $(docdir)/meld
sharedir_ := $(sharedir)/meld
helpdir_ := $(helpdir)/meld
##
## Python Version
## **************
##
## Meld requires at least python2.3. If you need a version which
## works with python2.2 try one of the 0.9 series. 0.9.4.1 will
## work with old pygtk packages too.
##
## Dependencies
## ************
##
## At the very least you will need:
##  * pygtk-2.6.0
##  * gnome-python-2.6.0
##
## Optional:
##  * pygtksourceview 0.9 or higher
##    (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pygtksourceview)
##
## Meld will not work with earlier versions of these packages.
## Earlier versions of meld (up to 0.9.x) required only version
## pygtk and gnome-python 2.0.
##
## They are all available from your favourite gnome mirror.
## Alternatively many distributions provide binary packages.
