Initial check-in of new Scala sources.  Basic simulation engine code and time measurement features implemented (but not yet fully tested).  The Maven POM files have not been fully debugged as yet: parent & child modules haven't been fully configured; test suites are not executing automatically - currently awaiting a release of the maven-scalatest-plugin to assist with that; Maven site generation untested; ScalaDoc generation untested; release & distribution code untested.
