* Switch to pidgin. (Closes: #424685)
* Rename the package to pidgin-libnotify and add a dummy package to ease
  upgrades.
* Add NEWS.Debian to explain the transition.
* Implement get-orig-source as suggested by the Debian policy.

  The package gaim-libnotify has been renamed to pidgin-libnotify. It still

  uses the old upstream code that is patched now to support the new Pidgin

  name. The old source package gaim-libnotify should/will be removed from the

  Debian archive soon. It is already safe to remove the transitional binary

  package called gaim-libnotify.
