Description: All planet maps required by xplanet are not included in package.

In order to run xplanet, you'll need at least one map file. Since v0.80,

day and night earth maps are available as a separate debian package called
6
xplanet-images. Other planet maps are not included as some of them have
7
copyrights and licences that prevent distribution.

If no image is specified with the -image option, xplanet looks in the

current directory first, and then in the directory specified by
20
command-line option -mapdir (if used), and finally in the directory
21
specified at compilation time (/usr/share/xplanet/images for Debian) for
22
the file to use as the day map. This file should be named body.extension,
23
where body can be mercury, venus, earth, moon, mars, jupiter, io, europa,
24
ganymede, callisto, saturn, titan, uranus, neptune, or pluto. The
25
extension of the file by default is jpg. After installation, it is
26
suggested that you should get planet maps from any of above locations and
27
install it in some directory of your choice, say $HOME/xplanet and use the
28
-mapdir option to point to the directory that contains the planet day

Wenn kein Bild mit der Option -image angegeben wurde, dann sucht xplanet

im aktuellen Verzeichnis und anschliessend im Verzeichnis das durch die

Verzeichnis, das bei der Compilierung (/usr/share/xplanet/images in

Debian) nach einer Datei, die dann als Tageskarte verwendet wird. Diese

Datei sollte nach dem folgenden System benannt werden: stern.erweiterung,

wobei stern z.B. venus, erde, mond, mars etc. sein kann. Die Standard-

erweiterung ist jpg. Nach der Installation ist es empfehlenswert das Sie

die Sternenkarten von einer der o.g. Quellen downloaden und in ein
55
Verzeichnis Ihrer Wahl, z.B. $HOME/xplanet, installieren. Danach k=F6nnen

Sie xplanet mit der Option -mapdir dieses Verzeichnis als

Kartenverzeichnis angeben.
