An alternative to xsetbg is the use the graphical program chbg. It allows

one to randomly choose a background from a list of available files.

NOTE: If you have a background image set in for example GNOME or KDE they

will most likely override any image set with xsetbg or chbg.

If you want to prevent Nautilus from drawing the desktop wallpaper, you must

use gconf-editor to add the following:

Under /apps/nautilus/preferences,
