<p>البولونيزيون هم السكان الأصليون للجزر الواقعة في الوسط الشرقي من المحيط الهادي، وتشمل نيوزيلاندا، هاوايي، ساموا، بولونيزيا الفرنسية وجزر عدة أخرى. استخدم البولونيزيون كوكبات كانت تساعدهم في الإبحار في المحيط الهادي. معظم الأساطير خلف هذه الكوكبات تدور حول البحر بشكل رئيس.</p>
