* gtk+ 1.1.x or higher. You can download the newest gtk+ from

ftp://ftp.gtk.org/pub/gtk/v1.2. You can download the latest version of gtk

and you will also need to download the latest glib from that same directory.

* ticables and ticalcs libraries. You can download them on the same page than

* tiffep library & server. This is not compulsory but it can greatly add some features to TiLP.

* the 'tipar' or 'tiser' kernel module if you do not want run TiLP as super-user. This is required only for homemade parallel/serial cables and BlackLink cable.

* the 'tiusb' kernel module if you have a SilverLink cable.

* Extract the files from the archive with

'tar -xvzf tilp-X.XX.tar.gz'

* Go to the tilp directory and type './configure' in order to be sure that

all it is OK. Next, type 'make' to make a binary for your machine.

* If the compile suceeds without any errors, you can type 'make install' to

install the binary in /usr/bin. This will also copy some necessary

files to /usr/local/share/tilp and will install the manpage and the

* If you have a Grey TIGL link cable and you want run TiLP as single user, you may have to change the permissions of your /dev/ttyS[0..3] device.
