SQLite C Interface

Automatically Load Statically Linked Extensions

int sqlite3_auto_extension(void (*xEntryPoint)(void));
121

122
This interface causes the xEntryPoint() function to be invoked for
123
each new database connection that is created. The idea here is that
124
xEntryPoint() is the entry point for a statically linked SQLite extension
125
that is to be automatically loaded into all new database connections.

127

Even though the function prototype shows that xEntryPoint() takes
128
no arguments and returns void, SQLite invokes xEntryPoint() with three
129
arguments and expects and integer result as if the signature of the
130
entry point where as follows:

133
int xEntryPoint(
135
const char **pzErrMsg,
136
const struct sqlite3_api_routines *pThunk
138

140

If the xEntryPoint routine encounters an error, it should make *pzErrMsg
141
point to an appropriate error message (obtained from sqlite3_mprintf())
142
and return an appropriate error code. SQLite ensures that *pzErrMsg
143
is NULL before calling the xEntryPoint(). SQLite will invoke
144
sqlite3_free() on *pzErrMsg after xEntryPoint() returns. If any
145
xEntryPoint() returns an error, the sqlite3_open(), sqlite3_open16(),
146
or sqlite3_open_v2() call that provoked the xEntryPoint() will fail.

148

Calling sqlite3_auto_extension(X) with an entry point X that is already
149
on the list of automatic extensions is a harmless no-op. No entry point
150
will be called more than once for each database connection that is opened.
