<title>Search for Programs and Applications</title>
21
<!-- Obsolete page, this stuff is covered elsewhere. -->
24
To search your computer for a program or application:
29
Enter the <gui> Activities </gui> overview by pressing <keyseq><key> Alt </key><key> F1 </key></keyseq> or by touching the cursor to the top left corner (a.k.a. the "hot" corner), or by pressing the Meta key.
34
Just start typing the name of the program or application you want to find. What you type will be entered in the <gui> Type to search </gui> box. As you type, programs and applications matching what you have typed will appear as you type.
41
Pressing the <key>Esc</key> key will escape the search and bring you back to the overview.
45
To launch a found application:
49
You can drag icons from the search results to the workspaces to launch them without leaving the overview.
52
Alternatively, you can just click on the icon. It will open in a workspace.
