If you're not using a wired connection you can skip this part.

To add a wired network that uses DHCP or automatic configuration you need not do anything more, Ubuntu will detect the connection and configure it properly.

If you need to setup a static connection for your wired interface choose the interface (default is eth0), and then click Edit.

IPv4 is still the standard protocol in most of the world, however you can also use IPv6 if your network supports it. If you're unsure, you will need to contact your ISP or Network Administrator.

Once you're done making your changes to the wired network you can click Apply on the bottom right of the window to make your changes take effect.

Now you can connect and disconnect from this connection via the Network Applet in the top right.
