<h2>Software Sources</h2>This menu allows you to change settings specific to the Update Manager.

 

In the "Updates" tab, you can select how often you want to be notified of updates. We recommend frequently, so you always have the best software available. 

 

You can also choose what type of updates to check for: security updates, recommended updates, proposed updates and backports. At a minimum, security updates should always be selected. Recommended updates include updates that contain non-critical fixes which may remove any major annoyances for installed applications.

The behaviour of the Update Manager can also be changed. The Update Manager can be changed to download and install security updates automatically; download all updates in the background; or just notify you when updates need to be installed.
