You can scan your images in Ubuntu using an easy application called 'Simple Scan'. It's located in the 'Applications -> Graphics' menu. First connect your scanner to your computer and fire up Simple Scan. It will automatically detect your scanner. Before scanning, select what to scan, select what type of item you are scanning, then hit the scan button.
