The default music player for Ubuntu is Rhythmbox. With Rhythmbox, you can organize and play your music.

 

Apart from letting you organize and play audio files, Rhythmbox also allows you to sync with mp3 devices, download podcasts, create playlists, and more. 

 

To start Rhythmbox, go to the Applications Menu, select Sound & Video, and click on Rhythmbox Music Player. After you have launched it once, you will also be able to launch it from the sound menu.
