Ubuntu provides a number of tools to assist people use computers, however, these are not enabled by default.

To enable these accessibility tools, go to System ▸ Preferences ▸ Assistive Technologies.

Toggle to enable assistive technologies. This will add a new menu entry in applications.

Besides enabling these tools, you can also set your preferred applications, and modify keyboard and mouse settings. To do this, go to <b>Applications ▸ Universal Access</b>.

There are applications that can read the text or content on the screen. You can also start a magnification window or talk to your computer and it will execute your commands or write letters for you.
